How To Win . . .
The Slide Move is the key to winning the game and you should use the Slide as often as possible.
The winning move is usually made by Sliding a sequence of tiles and adding one more to complete the line.
And you can Slide to manoeuvre your tiles into the right places. Plan ahead to create a winning position - but watch out for the other guy doing the same!
Also remember that your opponent is not allowed to move any tiles which you have just moved. So, by Sliding a sequence of tiles that you have already built, you can protect them until your next move.
If you can block your opponent from making a Slide, a sequence which he, or she, has built will be unprotected for your next move.
How To Survive . . .
If your opponent is one move away from winning, remember there are 4 ways to save yourself:
• move a tile out of his potential winning sequence
• fill the empty space which he needs to complete his line
• move the tile which he needs to complete his line - this means that he is not allowed to move the same tile on his next turn
• complete your own winning line
You may find that a situation which, at first, looks hopeless can still be retrieved.
In The Game on the Left . . .
Down is to play next but all that remains for Across to complete his victory is to add the Y to the red sequence in his next move.
Down cannot move U, V, W or X because they are protected by Harlequins.
And Down cannot move the Y because the A is surrounded.
But Down can save himself by Sliding CDE up to the top and adding the B to the left of the C, thereby filling the space which Across needs for the Y.

If you want to prove you are definitely the best player, try this:
Note the starting positions of the letters. At the end of the game, swap over with your opponent - Down to play Across, Across to play Down - and play the same game again.
The result will be different!
